| Oregon Scientific to sponsor British triathlete Tim Don |
| Consumer electronics specialist Oregon Scientific is sponsoring British triathlete Tim Don. Tim finished 4th in the Madeira World Triathlon Championships last weekend, highlighting the strength of the British team for Athens 2004. Twenty six year old Tim, who is ranked number two in the UK and number nine in the world, will be using Oregon’s Scientific’s sports watches, heart rate monitors and
lifestyle products such as weather stations to help him get the most out of his training schedule.
Tim is a familiar face on the UK triathlon scene and is easily the most recognisable British triathlete with his trademark flamboyant hairstyle and outgoing personality. He is helping to raise awareness of the sport, and will be working with Oregon Scientific over the coming months to show people how they can benefit from the
three disciplines of triathlon: swimming, running and cycling.
He said: “It is vital that athletes of all abilities stay within the correct ‘heart rate zone’ and products such as Oregon Scientific’s Vibra Trainer Pro watch and heart rate monitors are essential aids. It’s not so much about pushing yourself to your physical limit but working and training more effectively and efficiently.” Tim will also be using the Meteo Vision weather station from Oregon
Scientific, to help him optimise his outdoor training regime.
Oregon Scientific’s sponsorship of Tim is very important to the company. “Triathlon is definitely an up and coming sport and Tim is at the peak of triathlon in the UK,” said Paul Molyneux, Managing Director of Oregon Scientific UK. “But the sport is also popular amongst men and women of all ages and abilities - anyone can take part. We want to raise awareness of triathlon, and how people can make the most out of their training schedule,” he added.
